In the two-year project, the IBZ St. Marienthal is training 225 young people to become biodiversity conservationists. In five-day qualification seminars, the topics “Biodiversity and Agriculture,” “Biodiversity and Climate,” and “Biodiversity and Consumption” are addressed. The target group for the project “Biodiversity concerns us all” are young people with the support requirement “Learning”.

The special thing about this project is that the young people do not keep this knowledge to themselves, but use it in their social environment.

This reaches a target group that has so far been reached too little by education for sustainable development. After the qualification seminar, the young people investigate which species conservation projects they can carry out at their school, club or family.

If the young conservationists are successful with their project, they can apply to the IBZ. The best 8 projects will be awarded and win a seminar week at the IBZ together with their classmates or other youth supporters.

In the seminars, attention is paid to a target group-specific methodology, for which the company’s own material such as a quiz on the topic of „biodiversity“ and a quiz on the topic „Biodiversity and agriculture“ sowie ein Bat quiz entwickelt wird.

Four animated films were created as part of the project. The following films were created:
Biodiversity- What is it anyway?:

Biodiversity and agriculture:

Biodiversity and climate:

Biodiversity and consumption:
